Sabatino's Sausage Company sits quietly along Newport Beach’s Shipyard Way, tucked amidst boatyards and waterside mobile homes—an unusual but fitting backdrop for this Italian restaurant and deli. The location gives the dining experience an informal, almost waterfront workshop vibe that locals and visitors alike find approachable, especially if you’re craving traditional Italian with a focus on house-made sausages.

The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor area appreciated on sunny afternoons when umbrellas provide relief from the California sun. Staff here are attentive with a down-to-earth charm, often engaging diners with stories or explanations about the wall murals depicting Italian heritage, which adds a personal touch that goes beyond typical restaurant service.

The menu strikes a balance between classic Italian pasta dishes and seafood specials, leaning heavily into the star attraction: their signature sausage. Options like the sausage, green pepper, and onion sandwich stand out for those looking for a straightforward, flavorful bite. For pasta lovers, the homemade cheese ravioli and stuffed pasta roll provide a comforting blend of flavors with rich marinara and alfredo sauces. Seafood selections such as Pesce Misto and Scampi Dello Chef showcase fresh ingredients prepared simply to highlight natural flavors, fitting the seaside ambiance.

Dining here fits best into a casual afternoon or early evening outing, especially if you’re near the beach and want something more substantial than typical coastal fare. The atmosphere feels like a local’s nook more than a polished tourist restaurant; it’s where you might linger over a plate of mixed greens with garlic or end the meal with a classic cannoli alongside a glass of Moscato. Visitors often come in small groups or with family, drawn by the easy-going vibe and the connection to old-country flavors.

Expect prices that lean toward the higher side relative to casual Italian spots, which reflects the house-made quality and seaside location. The restaurant’s cleanliness and attention to detail, like adjusting umbrellas for optimal shade and maintaining spotless restrooms, further suggests a focus on guest comfort.

Overall, Sabatino's works well for those who appreciate Italian food rooted in tradition, served with a dose of warmth and authenticity, and don’t mind the eclectic neighborhood setting that adds character to the meal. If you find yourself craving genuine Italian sausage and a plate of pasta just steps from the water, this is a place that feels like a local’s quiet retreat rather than a loud, tourist-centered eatery.

Real flavor with old country charm hidden amongst the boats. I loved this place from the moment we arrived. We were greeted repeatedly by all the staff and the owner himself who visited our table numerous times to chat...a genuinely sweet, kind, loving man with a quick whit... very personable. He invited me to walk through the rooms of the restaurant and explained the various wall murals of his family and those who have worked for him over the past forty years. The meat case is amazingly filled with freshly made sausages, stuffed bell peppers, and so much more. We both had the Eggs Benedict with Spicy Italian Sausage. A beautiful fruit plate was also served with fresh toasted bread. The olive relish on the table went so well with the fresh garlic bread. I want to go again and again to try their lunch menu items ASAP. Ciao????????????????????????

Great atmosphere and India our server was great. Food was average Italian food. We had a sausage, pepper, and risotto appetizer that was delicious. Our entrees were ok and I felt a bit overpriced. But if down by the beach craving Italian it’s worth checking out.

This restaurant has a unique location. It's right by the water, a mobile home park and boats that are being fixed. I think the location is great. The food is good and expensive.

At Sabatino's Sausage Company there was dining outdoors. The hostess adjusted an umbrella to make sure I was in the shade. I had lunch. I ordered Italian sausage, green pepper and onion sandwich with a Moscato wine. I was served a complimentary cup of minestrone soup, warm Italian bread. The sausage is made there. It was mild flavorful. There restrooms were very clean. The server invited me to see the murals painted on the walls. She showed me the picture of the owner. I felt relaxed and enjoyed with my experience.

Follow me to this amazing Italian restaurant! Highlights of the menu: 1. Bufala mozzarella platter 2. World famous sizzling sausage platter 3. Italian wedding soup 4. Sausage stuffed red pepper 5. Mixed greens: broccoli, zucchini, cauliflower with garlic 6. Dessert: Cannoli This place is famous for their sausages and their Italian dining vibes. I really enjoy the dinner here with friends and family. There’s also live music someday. Such a cute place to hang.

Our server was super nice and attentive. The Italian wedding soup that was given as an appetizer was so good! We had spicy sausage added to our pasta and now we know why they are known for their sausages. I love how parking is free too.

Sabatino's is the BEST Italian Restaurant in Orange County. It truly feels like family welcoming you to dinner. The menu+wine selection was great. The food is delicious. The sausage platter was out of this world. Highly recommended.
